TNIB’s Favorite Guests December 22, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — The New Indian Wife @ 10:57 am

Any discussion of the best posts of TNIB has to include the AMAZING guest bloggers whose advice, words of wisdom and insight into weddings and related topics was sooooooooooooo well received by each of you.  So here we go, with my top 5 favorite guests on TNIB.

5. Photography is a HUGE part of any wedding and helping my readers navigate the multitude of considerations a newly engaged couple needs to make regarding photography is none other than Bay Area Indian Wedding photographer Jigar Champaneria.  If you missed his expert insights, you can catch them again here: http://thenewindianbride.com/category/photography-week/ And an honorable mention to his wife, up and coming cupcake artist Radha for her guest post durring sweet week: http://thenewindianbride.com/2010/08/30/sweet-week/

4 and 3. Becoming the beautiful, blushing, beaming, bride is no easy task.  That is why I was thrilled to have fabulous experts talk all about becoming bridal beautiful.  My fourth and third favorite guest posts are a tie between two beauty mavens in Vancouver.  The first is Ravy Mehroke, the President of Bombay Brow Bar in Vancouver and her essential eyebrow tips for brides! http://thenewindianbride.com/2010/08/26/gorgeous-arched-and-groomed/  The second, is leading lash expert Joyce Poon the President and Founder of Noir Lash Lounge, Vancouver’s premier lash destination specializing in semi-permanent eyelash extensions. http://thenewindianbride.com/2010/08/25/la-la-la-lashes/

2. Continuing with bridal beauty, the man single-handedly responsible for making my skin beam on my wedding day is non-other than Craig from Gentle Star Med Spa in San Francisco.  Ladies, if you are in the Bay Area you must put your face in Craig’s hands and wait to see the beauty that exudes!  http://thenewindianbride.com/2010/08/24/its-face-week-first-up-skin/

1. Drumroll please!!! My favorite guest post on TNIB are the wellness tips from Ritu Riyat of Made in Yoga.  Ritu guided TNIB readers on how to be a happy and healthy bride with a week of posts on nutrition, fitness, meditation and laughter.  http://thenewindianbride.com/category/healthy-happy-bride-week/ She also wrote a guest post on attending my wedding, where she recounts seeing green hills covered in pink on her drive to our Pretty In Pink Sangeet: http://thenewindianbride.com/2010/06/29/guest-post-from-made-in-yoga-friend-of-tnib/

Thank you to Jigar, Ritu and the beauty mavens of Vancouver for being my favorite guests of 2010!

TNIB’s Favorite Posts! December 15, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — The New Indian Wife @ 8:43 pm

The New Indian Bride is taking a trip down memory lane this week and reflecting back on some of her favorite posts of 2010.  It’s hard to pick just five favorites but here are the ones that really stand out for me. My favorite aspect of my wedding attire were my purple peep toe Kate Spade heels the purchase of which was captured in a omage to Carrie Bradshaw.  My second favorite post is when a very unexpected wedding guest arrived…my inner bridezilla!  Those of you who know me know that I am a big believer in signs.  Which is why the signs surrounding the purchase of my lengha make up my third favorite post.  The color of my lengha was a closely guarded secret but I did let my fabulous TNIB readers in on the action by letting them vote on the color and vote you did! It was my first attempt at making the blog interactive and it proved to be a huge success! My fourth favorite post is one of the first times I introduce the blog.  Finally, my fifth favorite post is all about trying to make our wedding SIMPLE.

I will be back tomorrow with some of my favorite guest bloggers on TNIB!

TNIB’s Favorites People! December 14, 2010

Reading has always been a joy. I love curling up with a good book and being transported to some other place, some other time, someone else’s story.  Today, I have the pleasure of re-reading my own words and that is an extra special treat. While I have spent a lot of time documenting my year through words, I spent less time reflecting on all that has transpired. It has been a monumental year for me and I am so incredibly grateful for this near perfect year filled with so many life changes, especially united with My Leading Man in holy matrimony.

I am most grateful for all the fabulous people in my life, all of whom were featured on TNIB this year. You met the elegant and graceful Mother of The Bride, you met my sister who in the end was the voice of sanity and reason on all aspects of wedding planning, you met my dashingly handsome brother who was the self-proclaimed Chief Fun Officer at my wedding, and you probably read about how much I missed my Dad during each and every step of my wedding day.

Most importantly you read about My Leading Man, who is the reason The New Indian Bride had anything to write about in the first place.  He even wrote a guest post!

There was a week of guest bloggers from some of the fabulous friends who were in attendance on our special day.  Oh and who can forget all the helpers! It takes a village and at least a few aunties to throw a fabulous Indian wedding.

A big thank you to all of my favorite people!  This year could not have transpired the way it did without each of you.   I am incredibly grateful to all of you for being an amazing and important part of my life.

My Favorite Posts of 2010

The New Indian Bride is down right teary eyed at the thought of 2010 drawing to a close.  It has been an epic year, filled with an engagement, a wedding, buying a new house and starting a new job.  Just about every major life change happened in 2010 (yes, I know minus having a baby but do you think I could handle anything more in 2010 – surely not!). Oh and how could I be so remiss as to not include The New Indian Bride blog as part of that list!  It should definitely be included with the other major events of the year.  I always wanted to start a writing project and I am thrilled the process of getting married and planning a wedding gave me the inspiration to write!

This week TNIB is dedicated to some of my favorite blog posts.  They are the ones that made us laugh, made us cry and the ones that inspired all The New Indian Brides in the blogosphere to have your Indian wedding your way.  So get ready for my favorite posts, the top “clicked” posts, my favorite featured guests and of course my favorite wedding of the year (yes, that would be mine!).

It’s gonna be a great week on TNIB.  Grab your cuppa chai, get cozy and let’s remember the year that was.

Trend Alert – The Delayed Honeymoon! December 13, 2010

Filed under: Mini Moon — The New Indian Wife @ 10:30 am

The New Indian Bride is literally doing backflips in front of her computer today! That’s because My Leading Man and I have booked our much delayed honeymoon.  In a little over a month we will be in Thailand and Hong Kong petting baby tigers, exploring Buddhas of varying sizes and eating all the Pad Thai and Dim Sum we can get our hands on.

We did however sneak away for a mini-moon soon after our wedding (and had a few subsequent mini-moons since) but the true honeymoon is now within sight and we couldn’t be more excited!

As I shared plans for our delayed honeymoon, I quickly found that many newlyweds are doing the same.  For the recently married Indian Bride and Groom it can be a logistical challenge to schedule enough days off to accommodate both a multi-day Indian wedding and a long and leisurely honeymoon.  Further, with guests traveling all over the world to partake in your wedding festivities, many couples want to stay local to spend time with their guests even after the wedding is over.  Not to mention, that with all the commotion of planning a wedding there is hardly any time, energy (or in our case budget) to plan a honeymoon.

So to all you New Indian Brides, feel free to delay that honeymoon to a time that suits your schedules and truly allows you to enjoy wherever it is you decide to go.  It’s going to be just as sweet no matter when it happens.
