The New Indian Bride is venturing into new territory this week introducing a new segment I am calling ”Holla at the Bride!” Instead of a featuring weddings I am going to “Holla at the Bride” who puts her own unique “holla-worthy” spin on traditions. The first “Holla at the Bride” goes to the most unique Indian wedding I have ever attended – the wedding of My Leading Man’s best friend Amit and his now wife Ruhi. This couple opted to forgo the traditional musings of an Indian affair and instead got married on a yacht in the San Francisco Bay. There were no saris, no lenghas, no bindhis, no churra, no marigolds, no mittai. What there was – a beautiful day, a bride and groom with love in their eyes, surrounded by their favorite people, having their wedding their way. After writing about Indian weddings for the last year and personally being totally and completely over the big, huge, Indian wedding productions featured all over the blogosphere, I find it personally refreshing that a couple chose to forgo traditions and be married in a civil ceremony. It was a beautiful day to launch the beautiful life of this beautiful couple. This week is the couple’s second anniversary. Cheers to Amit and Ruhi and many, many, many more anniversaries to come!
